Today, I want to show you a fun little craft that’s a good way to use up your old wine bottle corks. And who doesn’t have a bowlful of old corks hanging around? A cork is one of those things you hate to throw out because you might need it for a fun craft. Dig around for some old corks because I’m going to show you how to make the cutest Christmas Tree Ornaments from wine corks. And I’ll also show you how to make larger Standing Trees.
This is not a new craft. But, it might be one that you haven’t made before. These ornaments are so easy to make and just too cute. So here are the supplies you need. And if you don’t have any wine bottle corks you can actually buy them at the craft store.

How To Make Christmas Tree Ornaments from Wine Corks…
Step 1:
Choose a variety of seasonal colors and patterns of craft paper, paint, glitter or embellishments to decorate your corks with. Trace the end of a cork to form circles onto your paper. Cut out the circles and glue onto the ends of your corks. Some ends you might paint with glue and dip into glitter. You can also use glitter paper. Allow the glue to dry. After you assemble the trees you can go back and add your embellishments.
Step 2:
Arrange your corks into a pleasing pattern of colors. Now it’s time to glue the tree together. Use your hot glue gun to glue the bottom row of wine corks together. Just run a line of glue along one side of a cork and glue it to a second cork. Then glue on a third cork. Next glue the second row together and attach it to the bottom row. Finally, glue one more wine cork for the top row. Your tree shape is complete.
Step 3:
Now use your embellishments such as buttons, letter stickers, bells, mini-pompoms and anything else that you have to add flare to your tree. Just hot glue these items to the tree front. Attach a larger item such as a star, button or jewelry to the top of your tree.
Step 4:
Center your cork tree on top of the small branch piece to look like a tree trunk and hot glue it to the bottom row. Decorate the larger trunks with some ribbon or twine. Attach a piece of ribbon or twine on top for hanging. Now make a forest of these cute ornaments to hang on your tree.
Step 5:
You can also make these larger to have a standing tree. Just add in additional wine corks to increase the size of your tree. Attach the bottom row to a larger size branch. Be sure that the bottom is level so it will sit flat on a surface. You might need to do a little sanding before you glue it to your cork tree. My standing trees start with a row of 4 corks, increase to 5 corks and then start dropping back until you get to a single cork.
See how easy it is to make these little tree ornaments from wine corks? Gather your supplies and invite a few friends over for an evening of crafting. And be sure to take some time this holiday season to do relaxing, fun activities that you enjoy. If crafting is not your thing then maybe you can find a nice garden book to read. Or watch your favorite holiday movie together with your family. It doesn’t matter what you do as long as it is relaxing.
