The date on the calendar says there are a few weeks until it’s officially spring. I don’t care. I am done with winter… finished with the creamy whites and soothing background. Finished with being inside and longing to be in the garden. And I’m finished shivering when I head outdoors.
It’s time for spring! Time to clean up all the garden beds and put my garden plans into action for the year. It’s time to get outdoors and enjoy the sunshine when it peeks out. And it’s time to add some color back into my decor.
Related: How To Make A New Spring Wreath
To start off my protest of winter I’m creating my first craft of the spring season. And it’s got the bright spring colors I’m craving. This perky spring wreath will have you doing a happy dance for the new season that’s just around the corner.
Recently, I saw several wreaths for sale with a similar motif that cost in the $30-40 range. So I decided to see if I could create a similar wreath with supplies I already had plus a few items picked up at the craft store.

Supplies…
- Grapevine wreath, plain or covered with green leaves
- Green leaf strand if not already on your wreath
- Various spring florals ( 6-8 picks or a few branches to cut)
- A dozen faux lemons of various sizes
- Contrasting ribbon (optional)
- Floral wire (22 gauge)
- Hot glue gun
How To Create This Perky Spring Wreath…
Step 1:
Gather your supplies. Check your stash first, before you go out and buy a bunch of new items. Use what you have, even if it doesn’t match the florals on my wreath. This way you create a one-of-a-kind wreath like no one else’s.
Then take a quick trip to your local craft store to fill in the gaps. You can also order items on Amazon if you can’t find what you need locally.
Step 2:
Start with your wreath base. I’m using a grapevine wreath that was given to me by a friend. My wreath was already covered with green leaves. If your’s is plain, start by attaching some greenery all around the wreath as your base.
Wire on a strand of greens all around or tuck in leafy branches in an even pattern.
Step 3:
Fill in your wreath with several types of spring florals. Either wire them on using floral wire or firmly tuck the bunches into the grapevine wreath. Layer on different types of florals and pods to fill in any empty spots on your wreath.
Start with a floral that has tiny flowers and lots of greenery. Next, add in larger flowers. Attach the larger flowers so they aim in different directions around your wreath. Finish by adding in 3-5 bunches of seed pods or balls.
Step 4:
Now it’s time to attach the lemons. If the lemons have a wire attachment, then wire them into place. Without a wire stem, use hot glue to attach the lemons to your wreath.
Add your lemons as a single or in little bundles. They shouldn’t be perfectly spaced but tucked in here and there.
Step 5:
Finish off your wreath by adding a bright-colored ribbon if desired. I chose to leave the ribbon off my wreath, but you might like an additional pop of color.
Now hang that baby out where you’ll see it often. This bright, perky wreath will remind us that spring is knocking at our doors. So take that winter. Your time has passed and the new season is here, even if only in our mind.
