Let there be light! I am finally getting some light in Pinecone Cottage. This week I am having a vintage chandelier put into my shed. I have been using twinkle lights around the perimeter but now I am getting an extra dose of twinkle. The chandelier is one that my husband and I bought at a yard sale about 7 years ago. It has just been sitting in our garage all this time waiting for the right place to hang it.
This chandelier originally hung in someone’s dining room but they pulled it out for a remodel. We paid $3 for this light and now that it is hung I couldn’t be happier with it. The finish is a brassy metal and I debated painting it white. I decided instead to keep it’s original metal for now. I can always go back and change it but I liked how the light glows off the brass.
Getting electricity to my garden shed also means that I can have a little bit of heat in the autumn and spring and a fan in the summer. This means that I will have more opportunity to work and play in Pinecone Cottage. It is nice to have space for creating larger wreaths and crafts. I can leave them out to work on them periodically. It is so nice to not have to put things away every time you need to move on to another activity.
Here are some of the Projects that I am working on:
- Repairing the pinecone wreath that I made last year.
- Creating a new wreath from hydrangeas and rose hips.
- Creating a top for my workbench. I have several ideas that I am considering. My favorite idea is to use yardsticks.
- Working on my garden journal for next year.
- Potting up Paper White Narcissus to bring indoors in January.
- Using my pressed leaves to make table place settings for Thanksgiving.
Everyone can enjoy a variety of fun autumn activities whether you have a garden shed with lights or without. Set aside some time to plan what you would like to be creating. Pull out your supplies and just begin. Let your creative juices flow. Invite a few friends over to craft together. What types of activities are you working on this fall. Send me an email and let me know!
Wow, that chandelier looks BEAUTIFUL, how luck you are to have a fancy shed like that!!

Thanks Tania! I am very lucky to have such a wonderful garden shed. It took a lot of years of planning and saving and I feel very blessed every single time I am enjoying Pinecone Cottage.
